Root Canal Therapy

Getting a Root Canal

A root canal can relieve tooth pain but also can save your jaw bone and tooth from infection. It can be done easily without pain so there is nothing to fear when the dentist says you need one.

When a Root Canal Is Needed

Root canals are the only option when the pulp at the tooth’s root is infected with bacteria.

It is the only way to drain the infection and prevent bacteria from re-entering the area.

Root canals are a common procedure that our staff at Charisma Dental are familiar with and do regularly.

Painless

Contrary to popular belief, a root canal amounts to only a little discomfort. We use a local anesthetic to numb the area so you won’t feel anything but pressure. The instruments used to draw out the infection are small so they aren’t noticeable to you as they are being used.

Afterward

You will be given pain medicine for any discomfort after the root canal.

A second visit would be required to install a permanent crown over the tooth to protect it.

We will put a temporary one on until your customized crown is made.
